PENGAMPUNAN SEBAGAI SARANA PEMULIHAN KOMUNITAS: KAJIAN HERMENEUTIS TERHADAP 2 KORINTUS 2:5-11
Abstract
This article examines the significance of forgiveness as a means of community restoration based on 2 Corinthians 2:5–11. Against the backdrop of conflict within the Corinthian church, Paul presents forgiveness toward the offending individual as the path to restoration and shared joy. This study employs a qualitative method using a historical-grammatical exegetical approach to interpret the text according to the author's intended meaning. An analysis of the key term χαρίζομαι (charizomai) demonstrates that forgiveness is understood as an act of grace that restores relationships. The findings indicate that the disciplinary action imposed on the offender was sufficient to bring about repentance. Therefore, the congregation is called to forgive, comfort, and reaffirm the repentant individual to prevent overwhelming sorrow. Thus, forgiveness serves as an expression of love that preserves the unity of the church and restores relationships within the Christian community.References
